Technique Club--Coloring on Stamps with Markers

 

 

Not only did my Stampin' Friends get the joy of inking up this beautiful stamp, but they got a FREEBIE technique on this card with Top Note Square that they made using the Top Note Die.  I got the idea for this card from a swap I received from Gretchen Barron which you can see HERE (Her card is the very last one on the post, so just keep scrolling down).  Gretchen has a great tutorial on her blog which you can find HERE.  Hmmm? And what do you know...my card looks surprisingly like Gretchen's card...Hmmm?   Why mess with perfection...right?  I did rotate it AND I used different ribbon AND I added 2 little rhinestone brads...see, I didn't totally CASE it!!

INK/MARKERS: Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Dusty Durango

Technique Club--Rolling Marbles

 

 

Rolling Marbles...what a fun technique!  This is something you could even do with your little kiddos & they will think you are THE BEST & MOST FUNNEST PERSON EVER!

SUPPLIES:

STAMP SET: Animal Stories, Family Phrases

INK, MARKERS & REFILLS: Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Basic Black

CARDSTOCK: Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla

EXTRA:  Empty Stamp Box; 6 Marbles (or so); Crushed Curry & Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon (I obvioulsy have the underside showing because I thought it looked way too busy to have dots showing with all that crazy marbled background); Horizontal Punch; Stampin' Dimensionals

Technique Club Watercolor Wonder Crayons

 

No you aren't seeing something strange in the above card.  Each flower on the above card was done using a different Watercolor Crayon Technique listed below.

 

 

For the "real" card, I decided to color the crayon directly to the stamp, mist it & then stamped the center flower.  I did not re-apply the crayon to the other two flowers, so that I could create slightly lighter color effect each time I stamped it.  I hope you have enjoyed seeing the cards we have been making in my Techniques Card Club!!  Erin

Technique Club Faux Silk

 

In April, I started a Techniques Card Club.  Each month we learn 2 new techniques.  We make a "recipe" card with a card front adhered to the front & the technique "recipe" on the back.  As you can see from the above recipe, I get my techniques info from www.splitcoaststampers.com in the Resource section.  At our first meeting we altered tin lunch boxes.  I am using the one I made a couple of years ago, so the DSP is a "little" outdated, but I still love it!  I'll show it to you sometime!!

CASEing myself!

If you've been around for even a little while in the stampin' & scrappin' world, you have probably heard of the term: CASE which stands for Copy And Share Everything or Copy And Steal Everything.  Actually, in my opinion, it's a BIG compliment to the person to whom you "borrow" the idea from.  To me, it says, "I like your idea so much that I wish I could have come up with something that cool!"  Isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattery?  Well, here I am CASEing myself!!  So what does that say about me?  When I see a good idea...copy it, even if it's my own idea!!  :)

Here is the original I made last year for the 2007 Spring Mini Control Freak Swap .

Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Pixie Pink, Cool Carribbean (Last Year In Color), Taken With Teal

Marker:  Pixie Pink to outline the flower,White Gel Pen

Card Stock:  Pixie Pink, Cool Carribean, Taken With Teal, Whisper White

Extra:  Rose Grosgrain Ribbon, Pink Gingham Ribbon, Staples, Round Tab Punch, Spiral Punch, Cutter Kit

And here's my CASE of myself.  I was thinking of doing this as part of my So Cool Card Club earlier this week, but realized it had too many little steps & it would take too long to make 3 of them along with the other cards we were making.

Same supplies as above with the exception of the following:

Ink & Card Stock:  Groovy Guava, River Rock, Apricot Appeal

Extras:  Double Stitched Groovy Guava & River Rock, Blender Pen to use Groovy Guava on edge of flower

I guess I've been using the Simply Scrappin' Kit: Special Delivery too much because now I'm transferring that color combo to my cards!  :)

Does this card look a little familiar?  It might if you attended convention 2 years ago or purchased the Card Kit Stampin' Up! offered to Demonstrators like I did.  I still have quite a few of these left, so I went ahead and used them at my card club.  I let my clubbers know that the Cool Carribbean Card Stock & Ink are both from the retired 2006-2007 In Color Collection.

 The Club Card is on the Left and the original from the Kit is on the Right.  It used Rose Red Craft on the flower and Marigold Morning (also from the Retired In Color Collection) for the flower Center & tag on the right of the card.

So Cool Card Club-July Part 1 of 3

Happy Wednesday Everyone!  I hope you are all having a great week.  On Monday I had my So Cool Card Club come over for our last meeting...boo-hoo!  As a special treat, we each made 3 of each of the 3 cards, so over the next couple of days, I'll be showing you what we made!  We only used retiring stamp sets & lots of retiring "In Color" items.

I was originally inspired to make this from a card by JulieHRR on www.splitcoaststampers.com, but after I scoured the site to link you to it, I couldn't find the original card there, so here it is from my own personal vast e-collection of samples.  As you can see, I did modify it a little bit. I exchange the strip of paper on hers for Double Stitched Ribbon on mine AND I added a little shine to it by adding Crystal Effects on the solid images.  I just love the added dimension & how "juicy" the Crystal Effects makes things.  Also, I was able to show my gals how to use the NEW Scallop Edge Punch for the edge...Fun!  I can't remember the last time I made a card with just a single half sheet of Whisper White Card Stock!  I usually have lots of layers!!

 

Supplies:  Stamp Set:  Sweet Shapes; Ink & Ribbon:  Purely Pomegranate, Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi; Whisper White Card Stock, Scallop Edge Punch, Sponge, Crystal Effects

For the background squares on the Purely Pomegranate card, I stamped off 2 times on my scratch paper before stamping it on my card.  For the other two, I only stamped off once.
