One of the great things about attending the Stampin' Up! Convention is that you get to see SOOO many wonderful ideas that you want to make them all when you get home! But you know what, more often than not, I hate to admit, those AWESOME projects never get made! I know, I'm horrible! This doesn't happen to anyone else, does it?? Or does it? Anyway, one of the coolest projects I saw was a Vinyl Designer Series Bag that Linda Hansen showed us. The whole audience of 7000+ Demonstrators were oohing & aahing & squealling with delight. I KNEW I just HAD to make one. After a couple of weeks, I finally had all the supplies I needed, so I decided this past weekend (Labor Day Weekend in the USA), that I would finally MAKE THE BAG....and HERE IT IS in all it's glory!!
Something really cool about this bag is that it has 2 layers of vinyl with the DSP slipt in between the 2 layers on a piece of large chipboard, so I can untie the top ribbons, take out the old DSP & put in new DSP!! So, when it starts to feel a little more like fall, I'm going to slip in some of the new Autumn Vine DSP from the upcoming Holiday Mini that will be released in October. Then I'll just take off the Regal Rose Ribbon & tie on some different Ribbon & then, mama will have a brand new bag!
Here are a couple more similar pictures, but the handles are up.
And here's just one more picture that's of me & my bag to give you a perspective on the size of the bag. It's kind of big & a little heavier than I thought. I'm thinking of putting something on either the paper...like words or a picture or I've even thought of putting some Decor Elements on the front & back sides on the vinyl...but that'll come later. I just want to bask in it's cuteness as it is. Every so often yesterday & today, I have asked my husband, "Hey, did you see this cute bag that I made?" He actually does think it's pretty cool, too.
Stampin' Up! gave us directions on how to make these bags, but I'm not sure if I am able to post it here or not, since they were given to Convention Attendees Only. I will contact Stampin' Up! this week & if I can post them or re-write them for you, I will. I also cut out enough vinyl to make 3 more bags that are shorter for my 2 daughters & one for myself, but since I ran out of jumbo eyelets, those will just have to wait...sigh!
Edit: I called Stampin' Up! and talked with one of the Demonstrator Support personel and they gave me the OK to post the directions, so have fun & please let me know if you've made a bag...I want to see it!! Download Vinyl_Designer_Bag.jpg
As a note, if you are going to make the bag. You might want to WAIT to cut the paper & chipboard until AFTER you have assembled the bag & then measure the distance between your jumbo eyelets. That way you will have a better fit.
Well, I don't know what project will be able to top this one, so I better go start thinking about that! I hope you all have a great day! Erin
Such a cute idea! You did a wonderful job.

Love your bag. Going to make one too! A couple of SU friends are coming over in a couple of weeks so we can make them together. I got clear tubbing for the handles, hopefully that will work too. Any tips that aren't in the directions that you can give me?
Thanks for sharing.

Awesome!!! Good for you for giving it a try. I remember when they showed the bag at convention and thought I would have to make one of those. Of course I totally forgot all about it once home.
Where did you find the vinyl? I'm thinking JoAnns.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I was feeling very un-loved as a non-convention goer this year when I saw this bag posted on SCS and no directions! Thanks for going the extra mile and contacting SU to post the directions.
Can't wait to make my bag!
