Sorry for the EXTREME DELAY in getting these posted! As I told you in my previous post, I was working on these for the Craft Fair I was going to be in last Saturday...well, my hubby got called into work on Saturday, so I couldn't go...WAH!! I was really disappointed...I had made all sorts of stuff to sell, I was looking forward to sharing my love of Stampin' Up!, & I was REALLY, REALLY needing some KID FREE TIME!! Instead, I spent the day cleaning the house...fun times! Actually, the reason I was cleaning up was that one of my very best friends from high school was driving up from Dallas to visit in the afternoon. She was going to meet up with me at the craft fair...unbeknownst to me, she had planned to have our other best friend fly in to surprise me!! So, even though the day started out pretty bad, it ended up with me at The Cheesecake Factory with my two best friends (and 6 kids...which was only half of our total of children between the three of us!) Thanks Juliannne & Melissa!!
The next day after church, we went out to Earl's Rib Palace with 2 of our other friends from high school James & Alyson (who later married and just happen to live in the same general area as I do!)...yummy lunch & great visiting!! Thanks guys!
Okay, I digress, back to why I haven't posted...friends visiting, homeschooling, & getting ready for today...Thanksgiving!! Sorry!! I do have lots of ammo for you to see, so there shouldn't be anymore week long absences! Here are a couple more "glamour shots" of the bags & tags, and a little how to instructions for my one sheet wonder bag!
For the bag, you'll need one 12x12 sheet of DSP. This is a modified "2-4-6-8" bag & a mini version of the bag that Brent Steele showed at convention all squished into one.
SCORING:
On one side, score at 3 3/4, 5 3/4, 9 1/2 and 11 1/2.
Rotate and score at 1 3/4 for the top edge that will be folded down and then score at 9 1/4 for the bottom flaps (or if it's easier just completely rotate & score at 2 3/4 from the opposite end for the bottom flaps.)
The multi-colored dots will be the outside of my bag & the old olive dots will be the inside.
CUTTING:
From the bottom of the bag, cut on score lines up to the horizontal score line at 2 3/4, with the exception of the last 1/2 inch section, you will trim it off as shown in the picture.
You will also need to trim off 3/4 of an inch on the two wider bottom flaps...if you don't cut it, you won't be able to fold in the flaps. Please see the next picture.
FOLDING:
Fold on all scored lines, using your bone folder to get nice, flat folds.
ADHESIVE: If you cross your eyes just right, you can see where I put the adhesive on the bottom flaps! :) I used both SNAIL (aka Monoadhesive) and Sticky Strip. I put SNAIL on the bottom flaps, with the exception of the two larger flaps, I also used Sticky Strip. The piece with 3 pieces of Sticky Strip is the last flap I will be attaching & it's the same piece that has my name & info stamped on it on the reverse side in the next photo. I put SNAIL down the outside edges of the top flap & folded it down. I used Sticky Strip down the side, as seen in the next photo...after I folded down the top.
JUMBO EYELETS & RIBBON: You will want to do your eyelets & ribbon handles while it's still flat. When I made the first one, I made the box/bag first & then tried to do the eyelets & ribbon and it was a little tricky.
TO ASSEMBLE: Once you have scored, cut, adhesed, eyeletted, & ribbonned (are those real words? Probably not, just sounded fun!), you are ready to put the box together. I took the sticky strip off the side & put the sides together first. Then fold in the bottom 2 side pieces being mindful of which flap has the adhesive on it. You will want to fold in the flap that DOES NOT have adhesive on it first! (I found this out the hard way! If this happens to you, too, just a cut a piece of paper or cardstock to place inside the bag to cover the bottom of the bag. :) ) I used my ruler to stick down the inside of the bag to help make sure the flaps were attached.
And here you go!
Note: On the striped bag, I thought the reverse dot print was to "LOUD" next to the stripes, so I just cut a piece of Taken With Teal Card Stock & attached it to the folded down front sections.
FYI: After I tied the ribbon in a knot on the inside, I used a Pop-Up Glue Dot to keep the ribbon flap down. I tried Sticky Strip, but the ribbon didn't stay stuck.
Let me know if you have any questions...Erin
